Mebicar - instructions for use, indications, doses

Operating principle

The medicine is classified as a psychotropic drug, as it affects the mental state of patients. In particular, Adaptol is a representative of the group of anxiolytics - drugs that can eliminate fears and anxiety. These medications are also called sedatives or tranquilizers.

The drug, after being absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and entering the bloodstream, is transported to the brain, where it affects the hypothalamus, as well as the production of all neurotransmitters. Under the influence of mebikar, feelings of anxiety, restlessness and fear decrease, irritability and emotional tension weaken or disappear, and mood improves.

The tranquilizing activity of Adaptol is moderate. The product does not affect coordination of movements and does not have a muscle relaxant effect, so it can be used during the day. Also, adaptol by itself (when prescribed separately) does not have a hypnotic effect.

The drug also has a nootropic effect, since its use has a positive effect on attention, speed of thinking, logic and mental performance. In addition, the product stabilizes membranes and protects the brain from oxidative stress.

Having completed its task, the main component of Adaptol leaves the patient’s body within 24 hours. At the same time, it does not change biochemically and does not accumulate, so there is no addiction to the drug, as well as drug withdrawal syndrome.

Pharmacodynamics

What properties does a drug like Mebicar have?
Reviews from doctors indicate that this drug has nootropic, anxiolytic and stress-protective effects. After oral administration, it improves the oxygen supply to myocardial tissues, and also regulates the balance of electrolytes, the content of red blood cells and potassium in myocardial tissues and blood. In addition, the medication in question enhances protein synthesis and increases cell energy resources.

What features are inherent in the drug "Mebikar"? Instructions and patient reviews indicate that this medicine is able to regulate altered nighttime sleep, but it never causes drowsiness.

Reviews about the drug mebikar

This drug does not have a muscle relaxant or anticholinergic effect. Also, the drug does not affect the patient’s coordination of movements. It should also be noted that Mebicar is capable of reducing nicotine withdrawal.

Indications

The reasons for prescribing Adaptol are:

  • Neurosis in which the patient is irritable, anxious, emotionally excitable, and worries about fears. Adaptol is also recommended for stuttering and nervous tics.
  • A delusional-anxious state in which there are no serious behavioral problems and no agitation.
  • The recovery period after acute psychosis, when the patient is still emotionally unstable.
  • The desire to facilitate the tolerability of other psychotropic medications that may be prescribed for schizophrenia, psychosis, autism and other disorders. Adaptol is able to eliminate their side effects such as depressed mood, stiffness of movement, convulsions and other symptoms. This has a positive effect on the patient's quality of life.

At what age is it allowed to take it?

The instructions for use of Adaptol contain information that the medicine should not be used by people under 18 years of age. This is due to the lack of research on children's reactions to this drug. However, many doctors allow the prescription of this medication in pediatric practice if there are grounds for such a prescription.

Moreover, the minimum age at which Adaptol is prescribed to children is usually 9-10 years. For children aged 8 years, 6 years or younger, especially at 3 years old, even experienced neurologists do not recommend this medicine, because the reaction to the drug in such children can be unpredictable. For example, taking Adaptol before bed in combination with antipsychotics can provoke apnea, which threatens the child’s life at night.

In addition, the baby's kidneys or liver may not be able to cope with this medicine. And although Adaptol is well tolerated in most cases, the risk of adverse reactions at the age of under 10 years is still very high.

If the drug was prescribed by an experienced doctor, monitoring such reactions will be his responsibility, and at the slightest complications the medication is discontinued. This explains why giving Adaptol to children without a doctor’s prescription is unacceptable.

Comparison of safety of Mebicar and Grandaxin

The safety of a drug includes many factors.

At the same time, it is higher for Mebicar than for Grandaxin. It is important where the drug is metabolized: drugs are excreted from the body either unchanged or in the form of products of their biochemical transformations. Metabolism occurs spontaneously, but most often involves major organs such as the liver, kidneys, lungs, skin, brain and others. When assessing metabolism in Mebicar, as well as in Grandaxin, we look at which organ is the metabolizing organ and how critical the effect on it is.

The risk-benefit ratio is when the prescription of a drug is undesirable, but justified under certain conditions and circumstances, with the obligatory observance of caution in use. At the same time, Mebikar has fewer risks when used than Grandaxin.

Also, when calculating safety, it is taken into account whether only allergic reactions occur or possible dysfunction of the main organs. In other matters, as well as the reversibility of the consequences of using Mebicar and Grandaxin.

Contraindications

Adaptol cannot be used in the treatment of nervous pathologies if you are intolerant of its active substance. This medicine is not prescribed for adults if they are breastfeeding or pregnant. If the patient has impaired kidney function, liver disease or low blood pressure, the use of Adaptol should be very careful.

Comparison of the effectiveness of Mebicar and Grandaxin

Grandaxin is more effective than Mebicar - this means that the ability of the drug substance to provide the maximum possible effect is different.
For example, if the therapeutic effect of Grandaxin is more pronounced, then it is impossible to achieve this effect with Mebicar even in large doses.

Also, the speed of therapy is an indicator of the speed of therapeutic action; Grandaxin and Mebicar are also different, as is bioavailability - the amount of a drug reaching the place of its action in the body. The higher the bioavailability, the less it will be lost during absorption and use by the body.

Side effects

Taking Adaptol can cause skin itching, which forces you to stop taking the medicine. Quite common side effects are decreased body temperature and low blood pressure. Such manifestations normalize without treatment.

Occasionally, digestive problems, dizziness, or a feeling of weakness may occur as a result of using Adaptol. Very rarely, a child’s body reacts to the medicine with bronchospasm. With these symptoms, the dosage of the drug is reduced or treatment with Adaptol is completely stopped.

Comparison of side effects of Mebicar and Grandaxin

Side effects or adverse events are any adverse medical event that occurs in a subject after administration of a drug.

Mebicar has almost the same level of adverse events as Grandaxin. They both have few side effects. This implies that the frequency of their occurrence is low, that is, the indicator of how many cases of an undesirable effect of treatment are possible and registered is low. The undesirable effect on the body, the strength of influence and the toxic effect of Mebicar are similar to Grandaxin: how quickly the body recovers after taking it and whether it recovers at all.

Overdose

Adaptol is classified as a low-toxic drug, so a significantly higher dosage of the drug can only increase its side effects, for example, provoke dyspepsia, temporarily lower body temperature or cause hypotension. To eliminate such symptoms, detoxification therapy is used. If necessary, gastric lavage is performed.

Reviews

Adaptol receives different reviews from doctors and parents. Some mothers consider it a dangerous medicine and do not risk giving it to their child, seeking a replacement with another treatment. Those who trusted the doctor and decided to give Adaptol to a child cite a fairly quick effect, lack of addiction and drowsiness among the advantages of the drug.

The disadvantages of the medicine include the rather high cost of the tablets and their bitter taste. Also, some mothers noticed that after withdrawal the child became unbalanced, despite the information in the instructions that Adaptol does not have withdrawal symptoms.

Analogs

You can replace Adaptol with drugs with the same active substance, for example, the drug Mebicar or the drug Mebix. These are domestic analogues, so they cost somewhat less, but they have almost the same effect and have the same contraindications.

Also, an alternative to Adaptol can be medications with similar effects, but with a different composition.

Among them are:

  • Noofen. These capsules are prescribed from the age of 8 years.
  • Anvifen. This medicine in capsules is prescribed to children over 3 years of age.
  • Phenibut. The drug is approved for people over 2 years of age.
  • Children's Tenoten. The medicine is presented in lozenges, prescribed to children from 3 years of age.
  • Grandaxin. Such tablets are prescribed from the age of 14.

  2. Ischemia.
  3. Cardialgia.
  4. Neurotic deviations.
  5. Nicotine addiction.

It is not recommended to use if you are hypersensitive to the components.

The treatment regimen is drawn up by a qualified specialist individually, taking into account the characteristics of each patient’s body and the severity of the pathology.

Self-treatment can aggravate the situation and lead to a number of undesirable consequences. To avoid negative reactions, treatment should begin after receiving professional advice.

Pharmacological group

The drug is included in the category of anxiolytic, nootropic and stress-protective medications.
Improves the quality of oxygen supply to myocardial tissue structures, normalizes the disturbed balance of electrolytes in the bloodstream and the concentration of potassium ions in red blood cells, blood plasma and myocardial cells. The use of Mebikar leads to an increase in the intensity of protein production and an increase in cellular energy reserves. Regulates the process of falling asleep and improves the quality of night sleep, but does not have a direct hypnotic effect. It is not characterized by muscle relaxant and cholytic effects, and does not lead to coordination disorders. Reduces or eliminates nicotine withdrawal. It is also characterized by an anticonvulsant effect.

Reviews from doctors

Experts often use this remedy in their practice because it has a mild sedative effect. Quickly and effectively eliminates anxiety, does not cause drowsiness, but helps normalize the structure and quality of sleep. It extremely rarely leads to adverse reactions.

  • Benefits: Effectively eliminates the effects of stress, helps normalize sleep.
  • Disadvantages: Somewhat high cost.

Mebicar is an active sedative. It practically does not cause negative reactions, does not affect coordination, the speed of psychomotor reactions and the ability to control various mechanisms. Convenient to use. Under its influence, sleep disturbances are eliminated and the general condition of psycho-emotional stress is stabilized.

  • Advantages: As practice shows, Mebikar is a good sedative and nothing more.
  • Disadvantages: Nootropic properties are questionable, overpriced.

In my practice, I use this drug exclusively as an additional sedative component when performing polytherapy. I don’t use it as a single product.

  • Advantages: Helps improve tolerability of drugs from the group of antipsychotics.
  • Disadvantages: Nootropic characteristics are quite difficult to determine.

The medicine has moderate sedative properties. It combines nootropic and tranquilizing effects. In drug treatment practice, Mebicar is prescribed as part of a combination treatment. For mild anxiety disorders it can be used independently.

  • Advantages: High-quality, broad-spectrum product.
  • Disadvantages: None found.

Since 1978, Mebikar has been used by specialists as a daytime tranquilizer. Doctors conducted a large number of studies to determine the effectiveness of the drug. They were able to confirm that it helps eliminate the consequences of mental, immunological, menopausal, metabolic and cardiovascular abnormalities.

Sports doctors prescribed it to athletes to increase stress resistance and improve acclimatization. The product helped to quickly recover after hard workouts. With regular use, improvement in memory, attention, and self-organization was observed. In order to increase intellectual and physical performance, the drug is prescribed even to healthy people.

Upon penetration into the body, the active component of the drug helps to activate the process of release of mediators, which leads to the restoration of the balance of the processes of inhibition and excitation of the nervous system.

In the brain, the therapeutic effect of the drug is reflected in the neurons of the hypothalamus. The drug optimizes mental functions.

Also under its influence there is a decrease in nicotine addiction. With regular use, a person loses the craving for nicotine. This reduces the severity of withdrawal symptoms.

  • Advantages: Has a wide range of clinical activity.
  • Disadvantages: None found.

The drug molecule includes two methylated urea fragments. This helps reduce the toxicity of the drug. Mebicar affects the serotonergic system of the human body.

For patients with increased anxiety, fear, and emotional instability, the medicine helps get rid of unpleasant symptoms and improves performance.

Penetrating into the body, the active component of the drug normalizes the balance of oxygen in the heart muscle and increases coronary blood flow. Reduces cholesterol levels in patients who have suffered a myocardial infarction.

Under its influence, there is an increase in the effectiveness of treatment for people diagnosed with somatic pathologies. Helps get rid of fears and anxiety in patients with bronchial asthma or ulcers.

The product fully meets the established requirements for medications with psychotropic properties.

Indications for use

What does Mebicar 300 mg tablets help with? The drug is indicated:

  • Violation of the emotional state, the development of which was caused by situational, stressful, geriatric or organic mental disorders.
  • A chronic form of verbal hallucinosis of organic origin.
  • Prescribed as one of the components in complex therapy to improve the tolerability of various antipsychotic drugs and tranquilizers.
  • To actively reduce alcohol or nicotine addiction. The tablets contain a synthetic substance that helps to significantly reduce alcohol withdrawal, as well as reduce cravings for psychotropic drugs.
  • Significant hormonal changes in the body (menopause, premenstrual and menstrual periods), accompanied by instability of the mental state, severe irritability.
  • Schizophrenia, as well as various other diseases, often accompanied by an anxious-paranoid state.
  • For the treatment of various serious cardiac pathologies (cardialgia, coronary heart disease, rehabilitation period after a myocardial infarction) - in such cases, the drug is usually used for complex therapy using other drugs.
  • Neurosis, as well as a neurosis-like state, usually accompanied by increased emotional lability, the appearance of causeless anxiety, an inexplicable feeling of fear and increased irritability.

Reviews from patients who took the drug

Feedback from people who have already taken Mebikar can determine the degree of its safety and effectiveness. In general, patients respond positively to the medication and note that it is quite well tolerated and rarely causes side effects. In addition, the product helps to get rid of nicotine addiction.

Despite the fact that many patients leave positive reviews, you can take the drug only after consulting a qualified specialist. Self-treatment can be dangerous for the body.

  • Advantages: An effective medication for VSD.
  • Disadvantages: None.

I was diagnosed with vegetative-vascular dystonia. The neurologist prescribed Mebikar as a sedative. The course of treatment was two weeks. I took 1 tablet four times a day. I noticed positive dynamics already on the third day. I heard that VSD cannot be completely cured, but that pronounced symptoms can only be relieved. However, after undergoing complex treatment, which included taking these pills, I felt much better.

  • Benefits: Helps cope with stressful conditions.
  • Disadvantages: None found.

Recently an unpleasant situation occurred in my life, which resulted in severe stress. For several weeks I felt unwell, constantly having bad thoughts, feelings of fear and anxiety. At one point I realized that I couldn’t cope with this problem on my own, so I decided to turn to a psychologist. After consultation, the specialist recommended taking Mebicar for 3 months. The advantages of this product include its reasonable cost and the ability to buy it at any pharmacy without a prescription. The effect appeared on about 4 days. Now two months have passed since the start of treatment. I feel great. All worries and worries passed.

  • Benefits: The drug helped quit smoking.
  • Disadvantages: Duration of the therapeutic course.

Because of problems in my family, I developed nervousness, depression, and constantly wanted to cry. In addition, I started smoking. This upset me very much, because I had already encountered the problem of smoking once, but then I managed to quit. This time I decided to see a neurologist, and he prescribed Mebicar tablets. The course of treatment lasted approximately 6 months. However, there is still a positive result. I also want to note that it is not that cheap. But you can’t save on your health.

  • Advantages: Availability.
  • Disadvantages: Didn't help.

After the accident, my aunt began to have a panicky fear of cars. Even just the sight of it made her feel short of breath and hiccup. At the hospital, she was diagnosed with somatoform dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. A neurologist and psychotherapist prescribed Mebicar tablets. She took two tablets three times a day. Despite the fact that it is considered a broad-spectrum tranquilizer, no positive dynamics were observed. For two weeks, my aunt took the medicine, but there was no improvement; on the contrary, severe drowsiness appeared. She went to the doctor to prescribe another remedy. But they only increased her daily dose. The result is another couple of weeks in a state of half-asleep. After 14 days, the drowsiness disappeared, but there was no improvement. As a result, she decided not to go to the hospital anymore, but bought another drug on the advice of a pharmacist friend. She was satisfied with his action.

  • Advantages: Inexpensive and does not cause side effects.
  • Disadvantages: The effect does not come very quickly.

My nerves are quite frayed, but I am afraid to take strong medications, and weak ones do not always help. The doctor recommended Mebicar and assured that it was a proven drug. At first glance, it seems that this is a fairly affordable tool. However, if you take into account the number of doses per day (I took four tablets), it was not very profitable. The most interesting thing is that I did not feel any adverse reactions at all. Usually the use of sedatives was accompanied by severe attacks of nausea. But this time everything was fine, considering that I took the drug for a month. I would like to note that you should not expect quick action from this medication. Under stress, he will not be able to urgently eliminate the symptoms. Rather, the drug will help avoid the development of neurosis. Only after 7 days I felt positive changes. After 3 weeks of treatment, the aggressiveness and nervousness completely disappeared. It became easier for me to concentrate, my sleep returned to normal. At the end of the course there were no signs of withdrawal syndrome.

  • Advantages: Safe, inexpensive medication.
  • Disadvantages: Low efficiency.

I have been suffering from neurosis for quite some time. To avoid getting used to it, I change medications periodically. I’ve heard about Mebicare for a long time, but I haven’t taken it myself. This time I decided to try it. I drank three of them over the course of a week. A minor effect appeared only on day 4. The irritability and hysteria have subsided a little. However, this was observed only in the first half of the day. By evening all symptoms returned. I didn’t notice much benefit from this medicine. Personally, I don’t really understand why take pills that don’t help.

Helper for neuroses

Advantages: effective action

After my mother got into an accident, a number of anxieties did not open up, against which a terrible neurosis developed. The doctor prescribed Mebicar. I note that the drug is not cheap, but the results from taking it are felt immediately. Fear and anxiety decrease, my mother began to sleep more peacefully, and she stopped having nightmares already after 2 weeks of taking the pills. She began to stay at home alone, not at all afraid that something might happen to her. She took Mebicar along with a course of multivitamins, perhaps this made the effect on the body brighter. I couldn’t find it in the pharmacy right away, so I ordered it online and picked it up the next day from a convenient pick-up point for me.

Disadvantages: Duration of treatment.

A neurologist prescribed this drug to me when, against the backdrop of unpleasant events in our family, I experienced mental disorders in the form of depression, nervousness, and tearfulness. I also started smoking amid all this. What upset me most was this bad habit that had again entered my life. And she had to fight! Mebikar helped solve this problem. The treatment, of course, was not quick - it took about six months and therefore it cannot be said that it was not expensive. But there is a result. Therefore, I can confidently recommend taking this drug!

Advantages: None for me

Disadvantages: Weak action

The second maternity leave was not at all easy for me, an unpleasant bonus was the surging depression, irritability, plus panic attacks that overtook me unexpectedly at the most inopportune moment, especially when going out in public. As prescribed by the doctor, I began taking Adaptol (made in Latvia), which coped well with my condition, but one day it was not available in the pharmacy and the pharmacist recommended its Russian analogue, Mebikar, since they had the same active ingredient and it was cheaper. I don’t know what the reason is, but Mebicar helped worse; during panic attacks, the feeling of anxiety was in no hurry to go away after taking the drug. It was very strange for me, the substance is the same, but the effect is different. And why do I need such savings if the product doesn’t help. In general, the drug did not suit me, I decided not to buy it again.

Advantages: Available in all pharmacies

Disadvantages: We were not helped

My uncle and aunt were in a car accident, after which my aunt became very afraid of cars. When she saw the car, she immediately began to hiccup, and then have terrible shortness of breath. A psychotherapist and a neurologist diagnosed her with somatoform dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. They also mutually prescribed her a course of our Belarusian Mebicar tablets. The course was 2 tablets three times a day. She drank for a month - no improvement at all, although it was like a double-acting tranquilizer. At first, she always wanted to sleep terribly after taking it, although her work should not be done half asleep. After 2 weeks I was no longer even sleepy. She went to the appointment and asked to change the drug, but they only increased her dose. After which I was half asleep again for 2 weeks, and then it didn’t work at all. Then she didn’t go to another appointment at all, and bought another drug from a pharmacist friend. And I was very pleased.

Safe and effective

Advantages: Relatively inexpensive, no side effects, helps

Disadvantages: The effect is not fast

Sedatives rarely help me, my nerves are very shaken, but I was always afraid to take strong drugs. That’s why the doctor prescribed these, supposedly proven ones. They are inexpensive at first glance, but in reality, if you drink several pieces (I drank 4), a pack is only enough for 5 days. so not very profitable. I didn’t notice any side effects from the drug at all, that’s what’s interesting. I’ve never been able to take any sedative without at least nausea, but here it’s nothing, even though I’ve been taking it for a month. Don’t expect quick results from Mebicar, there won’t be any. And during times of strong unrest, it will not help urgently. This is more of a prevention or a lifesaver in the initial stages of neurosis. She performs well in this role - I drank when I began to get irritated for no reason because of problems at work. It only started helping after a week; before that I didn’t feel it at all. But it acts gently, you don’t turn into a vegetable, there is no drowsiness and your performance remains intact. The peak effect was in the third week, the outbursts of anger practically stopped, sleep became of very high quality, and it was much easier to concentrate. To be sure, I drank for another week and stopped. There was no withdrawal syndrome, the drug simply cured me, and that’s all—I respected it because it didn’t mask the symptoms, but treated me. So I advise you to try it, it won’t do any harm anyway.

Weak, practically did not help with neurosis

Advantages: Inexpensive, no dangerous side effects

I have had neurosis for a long time, I change medications from time to time so that there is no addiction. Mebicar is not a new drug, but I decided to try it. It’s inexpensive when compared with my antipsychotics, only 283 rubles for 20 tablets at the time of purchase. I took 3 tablets, it’s good that it doesn’t matter whether you take it before, after or during meals, it’s convenient. I drank for a week when there was something like an exacerbation. The drug turned out to be weak, only on the fourth day of taking it (and I took as many as 3 tablets every day, so I expected quick results) my sleep began to improve a little (I had insomnia). Irritability and hysteria in the daytime seemed to have become weaker, but in the evenings it was still the same. I drank it for a week, but the effect was as if I took valerian - even though it helps faster, there was no further improvement at all. But I began to sweat terribly, plus my temperature dropped (to 36.1) and I was constantly thirsty. In fact, apart from sweating, there was no particular discomfort, that is, despite the very weak effect, Mebikar has no serious side effects. But I think that during severe neurosis it is like a poultice for a dead person; why buy the drug at all (even if it is inexpensive) if there is practically no benefit?

Absolutely no effect

Advantages: No advantages

Disadvantages: No effect, expensive

Recently I was going through a very difficult period, when everything came at once - family problems, and a complete rush at work, including various checks. Accordingly, I became more nervous, irritable and practically did not get enough sleep. Therefore, I had to consult a doctor for help. He attributed Mebicar to me as the most effective remedy, but alas. I did not notice any positive effect - the depressive-depressed state did not go away even after a month of taking this medicine. Considering its high price, I was completely disappointed. In the end, calming herbal teas helped me a lot more.
