How to straighten your head after a concussion - grandma's method

Stress and various diseases require a special dietary menu. Nutrition during a concussion is related to the needs of the victim’s body for nutrients and microelements. TBI requires a special regime, expressed in psychological and physical rest. A properly selected diet will help injured cells and tissues recover.

Main signs of a concussion

The first symptom of TBI is loss of consciousness after the impact. Exceptions are elderly people and children. Immediately after a bruise you may experience:

  1. Frequent breathing.
  2. One-time vomiting.
  3. Tachycardia or rapid pulsation.
  4. Loss of memory regarding the events preceding the injury.

This symptom disappears after some time. The pressure returns to normal, but sometimes it can reach high limits - this happens not only due to the injury, but also the stressful state of the patient. The temperature does not increase during concussion.

After regaining consciousness, the victim experiences the following pathological symptoms:

  • headache;
  • dizziness;
  • feeling of nausea;
  • weakness, extraneous sounds in the ears;
  • sudden rush of blood to the skin of the face;
  • excessive sweating;
  • unpleasant discomfort;
  • sleep problems.

Useful products for bruises

All meals included in the diet should include:

  1. Boiled.
  2. Fresh.
  3. Steamed products.
  4. Vegetables, meat, fish, baked in the oven.

You will have to completely give up smoked meats, sweets and fried foods. During the recovery period, you should not overload your body with food. The diet should contain more protein as well as carbohydrates. Vegetable fats (olive oil) are used for cooking.

During treatment of a bruise, it is recommended to take B vitamins, which have a beneficial effect on the nervous system. These beneficial substances are found in foods such as:

  • asparagus, liver;
  • seafood;
  • for concussions, eat eggs and legumes;
  • nuts, buckwheat;
  • lean fish, dairy products.

To quickly absorb an element of group B, you should supplement your diet with food containing iron: spinach, legumes, various cereals, meat.

It is recommended to eat chicken and turkey every day - their fillet contains lecithin, which has a beneficial effect on the brain center. This substance is also present in pork liver and soy. It is better to supplement the diet with low-fat vegetable soups, beetroot soups, solyanka, borscht - anything that speeds up the digestion process.

The body needs to be given maximum support; it requires a lot of minerals and nutrients contained in fruits and fresh vegetables.

The victim’s menu should be selected taking into account the medications prescribed by the neurologist. If the patient takes diuretics, his diet should contain foods rich in potassium. It can be:

  1. Raisins, dried apricots.
  2. Baked potato.
  3. Prunes are useful for concussions.
  4. Dairy products.
  5. Legumes, nuts.

It is very important that the restorative diet contains a large amount of fermented milk and dairy foods - it contains potassium, which has a positive effect on the body's defenses, metabolic processes, and digestion.

Ascorbic acid will help cope with the stress experienced by a victim who has received a blow to the head. To do this, the diet should be supplemented with fresh cabbage, citrus fruits, rose hips, bell peppers, and spinach.

Constant consumption of lean fish compensates for the lack of Omega-3 acids, which improve the functioning of the central nervous system (beneficially affects memory and restores brain activity).

Foods you should avoid eating

Experts agreed that it is necessary to exclude some foods from the daily menu in case of a concussion of varying severity. The list of main dishes that you should avoid if you have a concussion includes:

All of these products can significantly worsen the patient's condition during the recovery period after an injury.

A proper diet for mild concussions is an integral part of a comprehensive recovery. It should be realized that adequate therapy and compliance with all the doctor’s advice leads to the recovery of the victim. It is important not only drug treatment, but also good nutrition, a positive attitude, rest and walks in the fresh air.

Moderate TBI requires treatment in a hospital setting, where the patient is constantly under the supervision of doctors. Only this approach guarantees complete recovery of the body.

With a concussion, the clinical picture is similar to the symptoms of severe alcohol intoxication. If the victim abuses alcohol-containing cocktails during therapy, there is a risk that signs of the pathological syndrome will recur. The patient may experience hysterical attacks, hallucinations, and irritability.

Due to a small amount of alcohol consumed after a blow to the head, mental disorders and delirium tremens are observed, which can appear even after a glass of beer.

Therapy after blows to the head

Getting hit in the head with fists, various objects, falling on your head, etc. - all this leaves behind certain consequences that you have to live with.

We would like the reader of our site to become acquainted with simple and effective ways to eliminate the undesirable consequences of such injuries, collected by the doctor of traditional medicine, Professor Alexander Timofeevich Ogulov:

In folk medicine, there were many ways to eliminate stresses that arise in bone tissue after a concussion. We will try to analyze several known and most effective methods.

For all types of concussions, the main criterion is the patient’s complaint of headache [if you have had concussions, then such therapy will not hurt, even if you do not have severe attacks of headaches at this point in your life - approx. militarywork.rf].

A bast rope was used as a means of monitoring the actions being performed [a non-stretch cord, etc. will do. — approx. militarywork.rf], which must meet certain requirements, namely, not elongate when stretched.

Before starting work, a person’s head was tied with a rope so that it passed through the forehead; the knot must be tied in the occipital fossa of the skull, as shown in Fig. 1.

Ogulov. Therapy for head injuries. Fig.1

A mark was made on the rope in the middle of the forehead, or its average position on the forehead was fixed with the fingers of the hand, or the rope was cut according to the mark and removed from the head. After which, taking the knot tied in the occipital fossa with the other hand, the two halves of the rope are pulled.

If both parts of the rope do not form a sag when tensioned, then technical actions to eliminate bone stresses after a concussion are not performed. If there is sagging in one of the ropes, then one of the more suitable normalization options is carried out, which are described below in the text.

After each normalization session, measurements are taken several times; it is advisable to leave each rope with measurements for later comparison. If the sag during measurement is significant, then sessions are carried out several times, every few days.

Sometimes such actions are accompanied by nausea that occurs in the patient at this time. Nausea is a criterion for the completion of action in a given session.

Let's consider several options for helping with such violations.

ELIMINATING BONE TRANS IN THE HEAD USING A SIEVE

. The patient clamps the edge of a wooden sieve with his teeth. Housewives usually sift flour with this sieve. Clamps so that the net is in front of his face

Rice. 2. Elimination of residual manifestations of skull trauma using a home sieve.

The person helping him comes from the patient’s back and hits the sieve with both hands without much effort. The blow is made so that the sieve does not fly out of the patient’s mouth and does not injure his teeth. The resulting moment of vibration is transmitted through the teeth to the bone tissue of the skull, eliminating stress and reducing the amount of asymmetry of the skull.

After each blow, a control measurement is performed with the rope. The number of hits on the sieve per session is determined individually, but on average it is advisable not to exceed three. Correctly performed actions reduce the difference in rope sagging and eliminate headaches, which, when they disappear, are a criterion for the completion of actions. The number of sessions varies within three, it is advisable to do them every other day or two.

Upon completion of each technical action, there should be a decrease in the level of headaches.

There may be contraindications for this option:

- weakness of cerebral vessels; presence of a recent stroke;

- high blood pressure;

- fresh recent injury.

REMOVING TRANS IN THE BONE TISSUE OF THE HEAD USING A BUCKET FILLED WITH WATER.

As in the previous version of therapy, a preliminary action is performed - measuring with a string for the presence of asymmetry in the bone tissues of the skull and the presence of sagging. The following steps are performed:

A bucket of water, preferably an iron one, is poured to the brim, and a slightly elastic rope is tied to the handle. A short stick is tied to the other end of the rope, which can be clamped with your teeth. The length of the rope should be such that a person, bending over, can pull the rope with his teeth, tied at one end to the handle of the bucket, and at the other to a stick clamped in the person’s teeth. When the rope is stretched to the limit due to the extension of the back and head so that the bucket can even rise slightly, a blow is made on the surface of the water with a plank. The resulting vibration spreads through the water and the handle of the bucket along the rope, causing movement and a decrease in tension in the bone tissue.

After which, the head is measured. In some cases, to enhance the impact effect, a sheet of paper, such as newspaper, is placed on the surface of the water.

Contraindications are general for shock therapy.

ELIMINATING BONE STRESS ARISING IN THE SKULL AFTER A HEAD INJURY USING A TOWEL.

After measuring your head and determining its asymmetry or if you have a desire to rid yourself of a strong causeless headache, you can use an action often used in so-called “home” folk medicine. The technical action can be performed with the help of an assistant or, in his absence, independently.

The head is tied with a twisted towel and a knot is formed on the forehead due to twisting. After which the head is pulled together by twisting the knot (Fig. 3). Pulling his head, he grabs the knot with one hand; with the other, free one, lightly tapping the knot with the edge of the palm begins.

Rice. 3. Eliminate tension with a towel.

Thus, walking along the perimeter of the node with tapping, it is determined in which plane and in which direction of the blow to the node the pain in the head occurs. After the direction of the pain has been determined, light tapping is performed in this direction until the pain disappears.

Contraindications to the work include the contraindications described in previous chapters.

ELIMINATION OF TENSIONS ARISING IN THE BONE TISSUE OF THE SKULL AFTER HEAD INJURY BY PRESS.

This option for eliminating stress in the bones of the skull is the most acceptable, because has the least number of contraindications.

A preliminary measurement of the head with an existing violation of symmetry, as well as the presence of a headache, will be an indication for assistance

With the help of another person, the head is squeezed with your hands along the expected diagonals. For example: forehead on the left - back of the head on the right and forehead on the right - back of the head on the left. Often with residual manifestations of concussions, along one of these lines the head has pain due to such compression.

After pressing with force along one of these lines, a painful sensation is achieved; at this pain, the pressure force is suspended and a time delay is given until it disappears.

The head seems to be squeezed along painful lines (Fig. 4); sometimes this compression is accompanied by cracking of the head. When the pain disappears, measurement is made with a rope. If there is no sagging, the work is considered completed.

Rice. 4. Elimination of tension by pressing on the head.

In this way, injuries up to 5-7 years ago are sometimes corrected. If the injury is long-standing, then complete elimination of the sagging rope is not achieved, but nevertheless the patient’s condition is alleviated. This technical action is not performed immediately after the injury; it is advisable to provide assistance no earlier than 10 days later.

Such compression often makes it possible to provide assistance with inflammation of one of the branches of the facial or trigeminal nerve. In this case, sometimes drowning of the auricle is observed. Pulling the auricle away from the head sometimes solves the problem of inflammation or pinched nerve.

Sometimes, when stretching, a click is heard, reminiscent of a finger crunch, after which the patient receives significant relief due to the resulting decrease in the level of pain.

Contraindications are general for therapy of this nature.

Traditional medicine

Non-traditional methods of treatment for injury should be used only as prescribed by a doctor, so as not to provoke the development of various complications. To eliminate pathological symptoms of a concussion, soothing decoctions are used based on:

  1. Ivan-tea.
  2. Melissa.
  3. Eleutherococcus.
  4. Medicinal valerian root.

Useful products for concussions

In case of a concussion, the doctor prescribes bed rest and a diet consisting of easily digestible food. In this case, it is best to eat fresh foods, boiled or steamed. Also, do not overeat, so as not to further burden the body.

  • For concussions, it is useful to take B vitamins, as they normalize the functioning of the nervous system. They are found in liver, pork, nuts, asparagus, potatoes, oysters, egg yolks, buckwheat, legumes (beans, peas), brewer's yeast, whole grain bread, milk and fish.
  • To fully absorb B vitamins, the body must have iron. Its sources are buckwheat, oatmeal, barley, wheat, legumes, spinach, liver, dogwood, poultry meat (pigeons, chicken).
  • In addition, poultry meat also contains lecithin, which normalizes brain function. It is also found in eggs, liver and soy.
  • During this period, it is useful to consume vegetable and cereal soups with fish or meat broth, borscht, rassolnik or beetroot soup, as they improve digestion.
  • To maximize the enrichment of the body with vitamins and beneficial microelements, it is necessary to consume vegetables, fruits and herbs.
  • During a concussion, the diet depends entirely on the medications taken. For example, if a patient is prescribed diuretics, you need to increase the amount of potassium-containing foods you consume. These can be dried apricots, dairy products, baked potatoes, different types of nuts, legumes, raisins, prunes, seaweed.
  • It is useful to consume milk and dairy, as well as fermented milk products, also because they contain calcium, which improves immunity and has a positive effect on metabolic processes in the body.
  • It is very important to eat fish regularly, as it contains Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids.
  • Eating foods with vitamin C helps the body fight stress and improves its overall condition. Sources of this vitamin are rose hips, black currants, sweet peppers, citrus fruits, honeysuckle, cabbage, viburnum, rowan, and spinach.
  • Also, to normalize brain function and protect it from stress, you need magnesium, which is found in buckwheat, barley, oatmeal, millet, various types of nuts, seaweed, and legumes.
  • You can add honey and dried fruits to your diet, as they contain glucose, which is necessary for the functioning of all cells of the body, including brain cells.
  • To enrich the body with fats, it is better to use nuts and vegetable oil, such as olive.

Results

A thoughtless diet and a negligent attitude towards a strict selection of healthy products will not help restore the usual state, but on the contrary will aggravate it. In case of brain injuries, it is very important to resume the protein metabolism occurring in it and replenish losses.

With head injuries, changes often occur in the human body. A catabolic reaction is observed, accompanied by a lack of amino acids and vitamin complex. If during this period you do not provide the body with the food it requires, there may be consequences manifested in a deterioration in general health, headaches and weight loss.

Considering what is healthy to eat during a concussion, you will recover faster and nourish your brain with the missing elements that will help it resume its work.

Symptoms of injury

In adults, recognizing a concussion is usually not difficult, because... after receiving a blunt head injury, they most often lose consciousness, and after it returns, they experience memory loss (amnesia), as well as:

  • nausea and vomiting,

  • headache,
  • confusion,
  • sleep disturbance and so on.

It is more difficult to identify a concussion in children under one and a half years old, because... when injured, they never lose consciousness, and the rest of the symptoms are very similar to a number of other pathologies:

  • frequent regurgitation when feeding,
  • tearfulness,
  • sleep disturbance and so on.

Diagnostics

To make a correct diagnosis, it is necessary to undergo a number of examinations. The main ones are:

  1. X-ray of the skull and cervical spine. It is done in order to exclude the presence of cracks and fractures of the skull, displacement of the cervical vertebrae. This study will help convince you that you have a closed injury; you need to understand that an open injury is fraught with cerebral hemorrhage and stroke.
  2. Encephalography and echoencephaloscopy. With the help of these examinations, it is possible to identify hidden lesions.
  3. CT scan . This study is carried out in serious cases - it is used to examine all hard-to-reach corners of the brain.
  4. Fundus examination. Only an ophthalmologist will be able to assess the condition of the vessels and optic nerve head. This examination will help to exclude the presence of hemorrhages or lamellar hematoma.
